Review: Gartner Analyst Breakfast at Wolke 21

Successful IT delivery with automated testing

Increasing digitization, flexible business models and dynamic processes lead to ever greater pressure for IT departments: despite ever shorter development times, high quality standards and tight budget limits must be adhered to.

On April 4, 2017, Gartner invited to an analyst Breakfast at Wolke 21 and presented opportunities for IT delivery with automated software testing to enable the effective implementation of a digitalization strategy. On the basis of the keynote by Research Director, Joachim Herschmann, trends and best practices on the topic "Why Automated Testing is a key success factor in your digitalization strategy" were presented.

Mag. Siegfried Ollinger from Wiener Städtische Versicherung presented his experiences from the pilot project with the Tricentis Tosca Testsuite and Qualysoft under the title "10 Do's and Dont's Test Automation". Starting from a very high number - over 10,000 - on machine-recorded test cases with unequal distribution on processes and applications and lack of risk coverage, Wiener Städtische had to improve the lack of meaningfulness of the results. The prerequisite for this was the optimal risk weighting which led to a meaningful distribution of the test cases across the areas.

With the support of Qualysoft and Tricentis, his team was able to achieve very good project results in the pilot areas of Wiener Städtische and Donau Versicherung.
